Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Even if you brush and floss every day, dental problems can still crop up in ways that patients may not notice on their own. That’s why dental checkups and cleanings with a trusted team like ours are so important for your smile and overall oral health. At Mingel Dental, we recommend younger and older patients alike schedule at least one visit every six months, or twice each year.
During your checkup, Dr. Mingel will thoroughly inspect every part of your oral health, from teeth to gums, to bite, to existing restorative work. Digital X-rays will help reveal concerns that could be located under the surface. A personalized treatment plan that meets your needs and exceeds your expectations will be created and presented. Additionally, a cleaning with one of our talented hygienists will remove dangerous, bacteria-filled plaque and tartar from teeth and gums, helping them smile brighter as they leave our practice.
Fluoride Treatment
Fluoride is a natural mineral that many communities add to their water sources – and for a good reason! Research has shown that people who drink fluoridated water on a regular basis tend to have stronger, less cavity-prone teeth on average. In fact, The American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry has reported that fluoride can reduce instances of tooth decay by 50-70% in children.
Over time, bottled water has risen dramatically in popularity, which has reduced many patients’ fluoride intake. If our team at Mingel Dental determines that you or your loved ones aren’t receiving enough fluoride during routine appointments, we can provide professional treatments to help strengthen oral health and keep teeth safe.
Digital X-Rays
X-rays have been an important part of dental care for many years now, but the pitfalls associated with capturing them on traditional film – long wait times, hazardous chemicals, radiation exposure – aren’t anything to sneeze at. That’s why Dr. Mingel is proud to have invested in digital X-ray technology to create safer and more accurate results for his valued patients.
Instead of having to rely on a tedious darkroom, digital X-rays are captured by our team and uploaded onto our computer system within seconds. In fact, we can show the results to patients right away, magnifying and color-coding their smile for a helpful educational experience. In addition to this convenience, digital X-rays are environmentally friendly and highly detailed, making treatment planning an even more precise and successful process here. Best of all, the radiation patients are exposed to is reduced by up to 90%!
Intraoral Cameras
Sometimes, patients can feel a little left in the dark about their own oral health. Our team is happy to use intraoral cameras to give you an up-close-and-personal tour of your unique smile. After placing the camera-tipped wand safely in the patient’s mouth, high-resolution images will be transferred to a nearby monitor for easy viewing. With this valuable visual aid, Dr. Mingel can point out areas that are damaged and more clearly explain potential treatment options, helping you feel like a fully-informed partner of our practice as you work towards healthier, happier teeth.
Children’s Dentistry
At Mingel Dental, we love being able to welcome the whole family in for treatment! Dr. Mingel has plenty of experience working with younger patients, and he and the rest of our staff always take a gentle, kind approach to children’s dentistry to make each child feel at home during every appointment. Regular check-ups will reveal any signs of decay or developmental problems that parents need to worry about, and services like fluoride treatment, mouthguards, and dental sealants are available to help them get started on the path towards lifelong oral health right away.
